Cre8con 2011 Morning Recap

It has been an exciting morning here at The Portland Creative Conference. We have heard from three speakers so far, here are some highlights:

Rob Legato – Special Effects Supervisor (Avatar, Harry Potter, Titanic, Armageddon, etc.)

Talking about being a cameraman because he said he was the cameraman – “Just say your doing something and many times people will let you do it”

Speaking about creating virtual tools that allow you to do things that would be expensive or time prohibitive in the real world – “You don’t have to have a lot of stuff to do things well, but you have to have experience. Find a way to do it”.

Brynn Bardacke – Global Group Creative Director, Coca-Cola

“To change is difficult. Not to change is fatal”

Talking about getting a 4 word rejection letter from Steve Jobs – “If it isn’t good enough, start over”

Naomi Pomeroy – Chef, Bravo’s Top Chef Masters TV show

“You have to stare your failures right in the face”

Speaking about the secret to her success – “Hire people who are smarter than you and learn from them. You have to let go of your ego”

That’s all for now kids, time for the second half!
