May planning update

Our teams have been hard at work setting the groundwork and spreading the word about the Creative Conference. We’ve been going to various events like the WebVision conference and other venues that serve as magnets for creative types.

Looking Back, Leaping Forward

Newmark Theater

Full day admission $99

Get ready for another high-energy romp into the minds of some of our most original and imaginative thinkers.

The past is not irrelevant just because we’re moving forward.  When advertising legends like confirmed speaker Dan Wieden swap insights with pioneering social media gurus, it sparks a fusion that closes the gap between old and new media.

The Portland Creative Conference brings extraordinarily talented people together to share personal insights into the creative process.  After ending a twelve-year run in 2001, the Conference successfully re-emerged last year.  And now, by popular demand, we’re going to do it again!

There are still plenty of opportunities to participate in producing this year’s conference. If you’re interested in volunteering in some capacity, whether recruiting additional speakers, encouraging sponsorships, or something you’re good at that we haven’t even thought of, speak up please!  Just  send an Email message to info at cre8con.com.

February Planning Meeting

Filed under: Planning — Sharon Rockey @ 5:06 pm

On Friday, February 27, the planning group met to discuss the progress made by our various committees—all hard at work on the production of our next Portland Creative Conference set for September 12, 2009.

Gathered around the table at the Portland Art Institute were conference chairman Steve Gehlen along with June Bennet, S.W. Conser, Sarah Foster, Julie Williamson, Michele Mariana, Melody Saunders, Dick Saunders, Doran Whipple, and Sharon Rockey.

Joining in via telephone conferencing were Susan De Merit, Johnny Hartman, Carisa Gasser, Elaine Spooner, and David McGinnis.

It was a productive meeting that covered a wide range of topics  from potential sponsorships and admission levels, to the creation of a marketing calendar that will pinpoint opportunities where we may generate early interest and support among those currently working in—and those who aspire to join—the creative industries.

A long list of potential speakers has already begun to circulate. As we start to narrow the list down, a conference theme will begin to emerge. Whatever theme is chosen, one thing is certain . . . the conference will be another opportunity to be inspired and learn from those who have broken away to blaze new creative paths.

There are plenty of opportunities to participate in producing this year’s conference. If you’re interested in volunteering in some capacity, please send an Email message to info at cre8con.com.
